3 ways to control your blood sugar

Blood sugar or glucose is termed as the sugar which is transported all over our body to transport sugar to various parts of our body. This sugar is extracted from the food we eat. Our bodies are designed to regulate the level of sugar in our bodies so that they are neither too high, nor too low. This state of equilibrium is known as homeostasis and is necessary to the wellbeing of our bodies. Unfortunately, in diabetes, our bodies fail to maintain this homeostasis and often produce more sugar. It normally occurs when there is not enough insulin in the body, or the body is not responding to the insulin properly. Without insulin, glucose cannot get into cells and just accumulates in the bloodstream.

Eat oatmeal

Oatmeal helps to control your blood sugar levels, provided that it is not of the sweet kind. The efficacy of oatmeal stems from the fact that it is a top-notch carbohydrate and it is slow digesting. This means that your blood sugar levels will not spike immediately after you consume it. Over time, it will work better in regulating your blood sugar levels.

Eat nonstarch vegies

Nonstarch veggies are broccoli, green beans, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables. The thing which makes these suitable for controlling your blood sugar levels is that they have plenty of fiber and good carbs, the kind which is good for your blood sugar levels.

Eat lean meat

Leans meats are high in protein and low in carbs. Protein will not harm your blood sugar levels just like carbs do. Another plus for protein is that they are high in chromium, a mineral which regulates your insulin levels.
