HEALTHY TIPS TO FOLLOW DURING RAMADAN 2023

Medically reviewed by Dr. Unsa Mohsin.

The best time of the year for all the muslims around the world is here; that is Ramadan. Sometimes it gets a little difficult to cope considering we’re not used to the routine but don’t worry in this blog we’ll be sharing a few tips to follow during Ramadan 2023 to manage a healthy lifestyle in this holy month.

EAT HEALTHY SEHRI

Rather than having random food items in sehri, have healthy meals like whole grain cereal, salads and fruits. Vegetables like cucumber will also keep you hydrated for a long period of time. Cut down on sugar, switch it with honey.

CUT DOWN ON SUGAR

Like mentioned above cut down on sugar and switch it with honey even in your beverages. Trust us it will make a vast difference. Avoid having desserts as they contain lots of sugar.

HYDRATE YOURSELF ENOUGH

We all know how water is the best source of hydration. To prevent dehydration carry a water bottle with you to taraweeh or even if you’re home after Iftar. Juices and milk also help but they also contain sugar and calories.

ENGAGE IN A MILD EXERCISE ROUTINE

Don’t push yourself to exercise too hard. Instead, maintain a low impact exercise routine. Go for walks but only when the weather is warmer.

FOR PATIENTS ON MEDICATIONS

Individuals who are diabetic/heart patients or any other disease should always consult their doctors first before fasting and to discuss any changes in medications time etc.

If you’re pregnant or breast feeding – Consult your doctor before fasting.

REST WELL

If you think staying up whole night and only sleeping after sehri would recompense the lost sleep; you’re wrong. Try getting atleast 7-8 hours of sleep so you can carry out your daily chores and pray on time without getting fatigued.

WISHING ALL MUSLIMS A HAPPY AND A HEALTHY RAMADAN!
