What is this test?
- This laboratory test is performed on a blood sample to determine the presence of Rh factor on the surface of Red blood cells. Those who have this protein are called Rh-positive and similarly, those who don’t have this protein are called Rh-negative. This test is important for Rh compatibility during pregnancy.
Why is this test performed?

- To determine the type and quantity of antibodies in the blood
- To determine the presence of Rh factor in pregnant females
- To prevent Rh-sensitization
