Soft, smooth and clear skin doesn’t just happen overnight. There is no magic face wash or face cream that cleans out blemishes instantly or scrub that makes your skin brighter as soon as you wash it off. It takes proper care, cleansing routines, and lasting routines to get spotless skin. Here are some habits you should consider adopting.
Get at least 7 hours of sleep
Unless you have a team of makeup artists waiting to get you ready every morning, missing on sleep won’t do you any favors. “Under-eye bags” or “dark circles” are directly linked to sleep deprivation and may end up ruining your whole look. Beauty sleep isn’t a myth.
Make water your best friend
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Water replenishes your body, flushes out impurities and helps remove excess oil which is one of the core reasons for pimples acne breakouts. All the skin care tips you follow won’t make a difference unless you drink water.
Moisturize
Even in the summer, when the skin tends to get oily quicker, it’s important to moisturize. Your skin needs to maintain its water content to remain healthy; moisturizers strengthen the barrier on our skin to slow down water loss. To get maximum benefit, increase use during winters and ease up during the summers.
Shield your skin from the sun
Apart from 7 to 9 am, the rays of the sun carry dangerous UV rays that may damage the texture of your skin and in some extreme cases of prolonged exposure, cause skin cancer. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight, especially from 10 am to 2 pm, wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and apply sunblock with SPF above 45.
Detox
You don’t have to follow strict routines where you cut out important fibers and starches from your diet. Your body just needs to cleanse out toxins that build up on a daily basis and for this, just starting the day with a warm glass of lemon and honey water can do the trick.
Wipe off makeup before you sleep
Makeup – no matter how natural it may look – contains chemicals and oils that attract dirt and clog the pores, causing pimples and acne breakouts. Use mild cleansing milk to remove whatever is left on your skin after a full day.
Have a workout routine
It doesn’t have to be intense or time-consuming. Just a small cardio routine followed by some weights or even a jog 4-5 days of the week can help blood circulation around the body, giving you a healthy flushed glow.
Ditch smoking
Last but definitely not the least, ditch the cigarette. On top of the disastrous effects it has on your health, the nicotine in cigarettes destroys the substructures on your skin, resulting in saggy and lifeless skin.
