Fast food is unhealthy, and this is not an unknown fact. Processed, junk and fast foods have increased heart disease, obesity, and other diseases.

In an article by CNN, it was said that a boy lost his eyesight because of surviving on Pringles. This is because of the fact that his body was lacking other vital nutrients. The doctors discovered that malnutrition leads to a loss of vision.

So, the more fast food you eat, the less likely you are to consume essential nutrients that your body needs.

Fast food eats away your brain

It is one of the leading causes of obesity and it can also increase your risk of developing a serious health condition like diabetes.

A high level of insulin, because of eating a lot of junk food, can affect the brain. Fatty foods increase insulin levels. Therefore, the liver, fat, and muscles no longer respond to the hormone.

Just like other organs, when you subject the brain to a notable amount of insulin then it can stop responding to the hormone. This tends to restrict your ability to think clearly.

Can these munchies make you depressed or…blind?

According to Guardian, ‘Eating junk food increases the risk of becoming depressed’. Diet and depression might be related. There have been numerous studies found that people who ate a poor quality diet (with chocolates, desserts, and fried foods) were more likely to have symptoms of depression.

There has been a case that revolves around a boy consulting the doctor complaining of fatigue. The blood tests confirmed he has Vitamin B12 and iron deficiency.

So, constantly binging on junk food while not fulfilling other nutritional requirements can lead to a loss of vision or can even make you depressed.

Will I get cancer if I eat junk food?

There are about 11 different types of cancers that are related to obesity. And, eating junk foods that are high in fats and sugars can make you gain weight. So in a way, eating junk at all times can lead to cancer.

However, it should be well understood that junk foods don’t contain any cancerous agents.

So…should I continue eating it or not?

Everything should be eaten in a limit, and this holds true for junk food too. Your body needs Vitamins and minerals, so binging on junk food only is definitely not a good idea.

However, if you are having nutritious meals and want to incorporate some junk food into your diet, then you surely can.

‘Healthy’ food for thought!

Fast food is low in nutrients and high in fat and sugar. It is not necessary to eat junk food as other foods provide sugar and fat that your body requires. However, craving for junk food is completely okay and snacking sometimes won’t do you any harm.
