6 Diet Foods that Fatten You Up

Be cautious of what you pick out at the supermarket. Something that you might be putting in your basket just because its “healthy” might have hidden demons that they don’t want you to know about. Here is a list of things you should be careful about.

Breakfast Cereals

At the start of the day, breakfast cereals may be the worst thing you can eat. Loaded with sugar and refined carbs hiding under the cover of “healthy”, cereals for breakfast tend to spike your sugar and insulin levels. Bottom line? Read the label carefully. Go for a cereal that doesn’t have highly refined grains or sugar in it.

Low Fat Yoghurt

Always, always go for fresh yogurt. When producers take out the fat from food, it tastes horrible. So to compensate for the taste (because they obviously want to sell it more), they add other stuff like corn syrup and artificial sweeteners that have far worse effects on your health. So eat real, full-fat yogurt that you get at dairy stores.

Whole Wheat Bread

Often perceived as healthy, fruit juices are one of the worst things you can pick up at the supermarket. There may not even be any actual fruit in there; it may just be water, sugar and some chemicals to make it taste like fruit. Even if you do get your hands on real fruit juice, don’t drink it as much. Go for fruit instead; a glass of orange juice contains the calories of 2 whole oranges.

Granola

If it’s made from real ingredients, it can definitely be healthy. But just like other “healthy” food, Granola too suffers from being altered in a way so it can be mass produced. It’s often highly processed and contains added sugar and oil. Go for home-made granola or one that isn’t sold at the supermarkets.

Commercial Salad Dressings

Salads are healthy and filling. Don’t ruin them by adding a dressing you bought from the supermarket. Most commercial salad dressings contain unhealthy ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and soybean oil. It’s much better to make your own.
