Gastrinoma

Description

Gastrinoma is a gastrin secreting tumor that can occur in the pancreas, it is most commonly found in the duodenum. Gastrinomas have been identified in 40% to 50% of patients. These tumors (duodenal) are small and multiple. 

Over 50% of gastrinomas are malignant and can metastasize to the liver. One fourth of them are related to multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 1.

Causes

The cause of Gastrinoma is unknown. There might be a genetic link.

Management
