This medication is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal manifestations of anxiety and tension.

Contradications

This medicine is contraindicated in myasthenia gravis patients (a neuromuscular disease that leads to muscle weakness), paralytic ileus (paralysis of the intestinal muscles that leads to obstruction of the intestine), pyloric stenosis (narrowing of the opening from the stomach to the first part of Intestine), toxic megacolon (expanded colon), and prostate enlargement.

Side effects

Common side-effects include constipation, temporary decreased heart rate followed by increased and irregular heart rate, reduced lung secretions, urinary urgency or retention, loss of eye-focus, intolerance to light, dry mouth, flushing, dryness of the skin, confusion, nausea, and vomiting. Rare side effects include angle-closure glaucoma (condition with increase pressure in the eye leading to optic nerve damage).
