diosmin

This medication is used in the treatment of circulatory disorder (heart disease) in women, heavy limbs (blood flow from the legs to the heart is impaired), varicose veins (enlarged, swollen, and twisting veins), sequela (consequence of a previous disease) of phlebitis (inflammation of a vein), premenstrual syndrome (combination of emotional, physical and psychological disturbances occurring after a woman’s ovulation; release of egg from her ovary), functional menorrhagia (abnormally heavy bleeding during menstrual cycle), and venous insufficiency during pregnancy (veins have trouble in sending blood from the limbs to the heart).

Contradications

This medication is contraindicated in patients suffering from decreased kidney function, diarrhoea (frequent watery stools), sarcoidosis (inflammatory disease that affects the lungs and lymph nodes), increased activity of parathyroid gland (glands that control the amount of calcium in our blood and bones), dehydration (low level of water in the body), constipation (difficulty in passing stool), kidney stones, complete heart block, stomach or intestinal ulcer (a lesion on the lining of stomach or intestine), high levels of potassium or calcium in blood, and severe burn.

Side effects

Patients administered with this medication may experience gastralgia (stomach ache), headache, diarrhoea (frequent watery stools), dizziness (feeling of being sleepy), skin redness and hives (red, raised, and itchy bumps on skin), muscle pain, blood problems, and altered heart rate.

In adults it is recommended to take 2 tablets daily.
