enoxacin

This medication is used in patients with infections of the respiratory tract, ENT (eyes, nose, and throat), skin, soft tissues, abdominal cavity (body cavity below diaphragm that contains the stomach, intestines, liver, and other organs), pelvis minor (lower part of the human trunk), urinary tract, and genital organs.

Contradications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with epilepsy (seizure), hypersensitivity to quinolones (a type of antibiotic), and children in the growth phase.

Side effects

The side effects of this medication include diarrhea, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), drowsiness, headache, inflammation or infection of the vagina, irritation of the stomach or intestines, nausea, nervousness, cramps, decreased appetite, dry mouth, generalized weakness, itching of the genital region, pain, vaginal discharge, and vomiting.

Expert Advice

  • Take this medication 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
  • Do not chew or crush the tablet, swallow it with normal water.
  • Complete the full course of this medication.
  • Avoid caffeine intake when on this therapy.
