This medicine is used in the treatment of hyperalimentation (artificial supply of nutrients) and in the supply of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids as part of complete parenteral (administration in the body other than mouth and alimentary canal) nutrition.

Contradications

This medicine is contraindicated in patients that are allergic to soy.

Side effects

Patients administered with this medication may experience headache, dizziness (feeling of being sleepy), flushing (temporary redness), nausea (feeling like vomiting), vomiting, and sweating. Contact prescriber immediately if any of the following unlikely symptoms occur: persistent fever, sore throat, pain/swelling/redness at injection site, pain/swelling/redness of arms and legs, bluish skin, sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, chest pain, mood changes, bone pain, muscle weakness, yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, easy bleeding, and severe stomach pain.
