Contradications

  • Fenofibrate is contraindicated for use in patients with fenofibrate

This medicine is used to treat Hyperlipidemia types lla (elevated LDL levels), llb (elevated LDL and VLDL levels), lll (elevated IDL levels), lV (elevated LDL levels), and V (elevated LDL and chylomicrons) that are resistant to diet. (LDL= Low Density Lipoproteins) (VLDL: Very Low Density Lipoproteins) (IDL: Intermediate Density Lipoproteins)

How to administer this medicine?

This medicine is mostly taken in oral form, preferably with meals. The dosage is dependent on the age, condition and its severity. Please consult your doctor before use. Appropriate lifestyle changes are necessary for this medicine to work effectively. Not recommended for children under 4 years.

The patients with severe renal (kidney) or hepatic (liver) impairment, gall bladder disease, pancreatitis (infection of the pancreas), increased sun sensitivity associated with use of fibrates or ketoprofen should avoid use of this medicine.

What are the precautions?

The patients with hepatic (liver) and renal (kidney) impairment, risk factors for muscular disorders, and secondary causes of dyslipidemia [elevated total or low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels, or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol] should use this medicine cautiously.

The patients administered with this medicine may experience gastrointestinal disturbances, rash, dizziness, sexual activity changes, muscular abnormalities, liver abnormalities, abnormal hair loss, increased sun sensitivity.
