hpv-type-6

This vaccine is used in the prevention of high-grade vulvular dysplastic lesions (pre-cancerous stage of external genitalia), genital warts (pus-filled rash on the female genitalia), cervical dysplasia (called CIN 2/3), cervical carcinoma which is a type of cancer of the cervix - part of the female uterus, where abnormal cell growth takes place in the cervical walls under the influence of human papilloma virus (HPV) types 6,11, 16 and 18, affecting females aged 9-26 yrs.

Contradications

This vaccine is to be avoided in case of severe febrile illness (a rapid onset of fever with other symptoms like weakness, chills and muscle pain due to an unknown cause) and to be avoided during pregnancy.

Side effects

This vaccine may produce side effects of fever, injection site reactions which may present as swelling, redness, bleeding, pruritis (itching and discomfort) and pain. Headaches, Gastric upset, myalgia (muscle pain), arthralgia (joint pain) are other expected effects of HPV vaccine.
