- Progesterone capsule is used for the following purposes:
- Part of hormone replacement therapy in women who have passed menopause and have not had a hysterectomy.
- To prevent abnormal thickening of the uterine lining caused by estrogen.
- To reduce the risk of uterine cancer.
- To regulate menstrual cycle of a woman of child-bearing age who previously had a normal cycle but stopped menstruating suddenly.
Contradications
- Do not use progesterone if you are allergic to it.
- Progesterone is contraindicated in women who are suffering from pre-existing breast cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, uterine cancer, or vaginal cancer.
- Progesterone should not be used in women with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
- Do not use this medicine if you have had your uterus removed.
