terbutaline

This medication is used to treat bronchospasm (spasm of lung muscles) in asthma, chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchial tubes) inflammation, emphysema (air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) are damaged), and uncomplicated premature labour.

Contradications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with prolongation of pregnancy, antepartum (before childbirth), haemorrhage, severe toxaemia (presence of bacterial toxins in the blood) of pregnancy, risk factors for heart disease or pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure that affects the arteries in your lungs and the right side of your heart)

Side effects

The patients taking this medication may experience fine tremor, peripheral vasodilation, tension, headache, palpitations (rapid pulsation), hypotension (low blood pressure), hypokalaemia (low level of potassium in blood), tachycardia (increased heart rate), nausea, sleep and behavioural disturbances in children, increased bleeding associated with caesarian section
