testosterone-undecanoate

This medication is used in men who do not make enough testosterone (a naturally occurring substance necessary for masculinity and male sexual characteristics). It is also used in certain adolescent boys to cause puberty in those with delayed puberty.

Contradications

This medication should not be used in women. It should also not be used in men with cancer of the male breast, hypercalcemia(high level of calcium in blood) or impaired  liver function

Side effects

Nausea, vomiting, headache, skin color changes, increased/decreased sexual interest, oily skin, hair loss, and acne may occur. Pain or redness at the injection site may also occur. Breast swelling/tenderness, mental/mood changes (such as depression), unusual snoring or difficulty breathing during sleep, swelling of  hands/ankles/feet, symptoms of liver problems (such as loss of appetite, persistent nausea/vomiting, severe stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine) can also occur as well as unusual sweating, confusion, sudden dizziness/fainting, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, sudden/severe headaches, trouble speaking, weakness on one side of the body or sudden vision changes. A doctor should be consulted right away if any of these side effects are present.

PRECAUTIONS

Patients should inform their doctor of any hypersensitivity(allergy) and complete medical history such as prostate cancer or breast cancer, heart problems , kidney problems , liver problems among many other possible diseases. Children and older adults should also use this medication with caution since it may affect bone growth in children and cause an enlarged prostate in elderly males.
