cyproterone-acetate
This medicine is used to treat anti-androgen problems (inhibition of male sex hormones) associated with inoperable prostatic carcinoma (cancer of prostate).
Contradications
The patients with liver disease, malignant or wasting disease (excluding prostatic cancer), severe chronic depression, history of thrombosis (local blood clot) or embolism (blood clot causing vessel obstruction), incomplete testicular or bone development, and patients under 18 years should avoid use of this medicine.
Side effects
The patients administered with this medicine may experience fatigue, depression, weight gain, gynecomastia (male breast enlargement), hair pattern changes, and osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones).
Expert Advice
- Please take this medicine with or right after meals.
- Please do not just stop taking this medicine. It must be withdrawn gradually.
- Please do not increase or decrease dose, or double dose.
- Please avoid consumption of alcohol during use of this medicine.
- Please avoid doing tasks requiring alertness, such as driving, immediately after taking this medicine.
- Please avoid exposure to direct sunlight during use of this medicine.
- Please avoid using sunlamp, tanning bed, and tanning booth during use of this medicine.
