pefloxacin

This medicine is indicated in urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, ear nose and throat infections, gynaecological infections (infections and inflammations occuring in vagina and genital tract), abdominal (stomach region) and hepatobiliary (liver plus gallbladder) infection, bone and joint infections, septicaemia (blood poisoning due to invasion of bacteria in bloodstream), endocarditis (inflammation of heart’s inner lining), meningitis (inflammation of meninges (membranous layers covering the brain and spinal cord)).

Contradications

It is contraindicated in glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Side effects

This medicine can cause GI upset, headache, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), muscle and joint pain.
