This medicine is used chronically in patients for brain ageing, cerebral atherosclerosis (thickening off walls of brain arteries), brain ischemia (insufficient blood supply to brain), and cerebral circulatory insufficiencies (obstruction of brain arteries). This medicine is acutely used in patients for head injuries, brain intoxication, and cerebral vascular accidents and also in intensive care, comas, and resuscitation. It is also used in psychic, motor and sensory rehabilitation.

Contradications

This medication is contraindicated in patients suffering from severe renal(kidney) insufficiency, hepatic(liver) impairment and cerebral(relating to the brain) hemorrhage(uncontrolled loss of blood due to injury to a vessel wall).

Side effects

Patients using this medicine may experience hyperkinesia (abnormal involuntary movements), insomnia (trouble sleeping), weight gain, somnolence (excessively sleepy), depression, nervousness, diarrhea, and rash.
