Indications

This medicine is acutely used in patients for head injuries, brain intoxication, and cerebral vascular accidents and also in intensive care, comas, and resuscitation. It is also used in psychic, motor and sensory rehabilitation.

Side Effects

Patients using this medicine may experience hyperkinesia (abnormal involuntary movements), insomnia (trouble sleeping), weight gain, somnolence (excessively sleepy), depression, nervousness, diarrhea, and rash.

Pregnancy

This medicine is contraindicated in pregnant females as it may cause fatal outcomes in unborn child.

Lactation

Administration in nursing mothers is contraindicated or not recommended.

Precautions

Patients who are aged or have history of renal (kidney) impairment should use this medicine with caution. Medicine should not be stopped abruptly but gradually and the patient should be monitored for suicidal tendencies.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients suffering from severe renal(kidney) insufficiency, hepatic(liver) impairment and cerebral(relating to the brain) hemorrhage(uncontrolled loss of blood due to injury to a vessel wall).
