This medicine should be used with caution in people with liver and kidney impairment, infectious
mononucleosis (a group of symptoms usually caused by Epstein-Barr virus) and in those carrying risk of
crystalluria (cloudy urine) on having high doses and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis ( a rare
skin reaction related to medicines). Therefore, stay hydrated and avoid overdosage.

Clavulanic acid should be used with extreme caution in patients with impaired hepatic (liver) function and patients should be kept well hydrated.

It is used for the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, ENT (ear, nose, and
throat), urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue.

Its side effects are liver impairments, hypersensitivity skin reactions, vasculitis (inflammation of blood
vessels), increased bleeding time after injuries, dizziness, headache, convulsions, superficial teeth
staining, phlebitis (inflammation of the vein) at the injection site, gastrointestinal upset, blood disorders,
neurological effects and antibiotic-associated colitis (inflammation of the intestines).

It should not be used in people with penicillin hypersensitivity and with a history of
co-amoxiclav-associated or penicillin associated jaundice or hepatic (liver) dysfunction.
