How is this test done?
A health care practitioner will first clean the skin, then an elastic band will be tied around the arm from which blood will be drawn, a needle will be inserted into the blood-filled vein, the blood is collected in a sterile test tube, and the injection site will be covered with a bandage.
What are the contraindications of this test?
People suffering from blood disorders or cellulitis (bacterial skin disease) should stay cautious and consult their doctor before getting this test done.
The normal range for rheumatoid factor (RA factor) is less than 14 IU/mL.
Any value higher than 14 IU/mL is considered positive/elevated rheumatoid factor.
