It is used in combination with other medications to treat partial seizures (brain disorder) with or without secondary generalization.
Patients using this medication may at times experience GI (stomach) upset, anorexia (loss of appetite), somnolence (feeling extremely sleepy or drowsy), accidental injuries, and asthenia (extreme physical weakness and lack of energy). If you experience any of these symptoms for a prolonged period of time, please consult your doctor.
Pregnancy

Lactation
This medicine is contraindicated in lactating females, consult your doctor for further information.
Driving

Patient using this medicine should inform medical history to their doctor, especially of: renal (kidney) or hepatic (liver) impairment. Use this medicine with caution if the patient is has decreased blood cell count, weakness, fever, coagulation disorders, and old age.

This medicine is rapidly and almost completely absorbed after oral administration. It reduces seizure frequency by about half in 20% to 40% of all people who take it.

Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause side effects and may also increase the risk of seizures.
