Byetta 10mcg injection is composed of Exenatide (10mcg)

Exenatide, in combination with appropriate diet and exercise, is used for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (condition characterized by elevated sugar levels). How To Use

This medicine is injected into a vein by a professional healthcare professional.
Initially only 5 mcg is injected twice a day.

Indications

This medicine is used with either metformin or sulphonylurea, in patients who are unable to control their blood glucose levels with just one of these medicines.

Side Effects

Some patients might experience Nausea , Vomiting , Diarrhoea and stomach pain. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

Warnings

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for pregnant females. Please consult your doctor for more information.

Lactation

This medicine may be safe to use in nursing females. However, caution is advised especially when nursing preterm babies and newborns.

Driving

This medicine may cause dizziness during driving. Therefore, please avoid driving immediately after taking this medicine.

Liver

Liver patients should use this medicine with caution. Dose adjustment might be required in case of liver impairment. Consult your doctor for more information.

Kidney

Kidney patients should use this medicine with caution. Dose adjustment might be required. Consult your doctor for more information. Patients with mild renal impairment: No dose adjustment requirement. Patients with moderate renal impairment: Caution is advised when initiating or increasing dose. Patients with severe renal impairment: Not recommended. Patients with renal transplant: Caution is advised.

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol consumption when using this medicine. It may increase the severity of side effects.

Precautions

Before using this medicine, inform your doctor about your complete medical history, especially about heart disease and kidney disease. Please monitor kidney function during use of this medicine. Not a substitute for insulin. Discontinuation of medicine may be required 48 hours before or after surgery. Do not discontinue this medicine without informing your doctor. Inform your doctor about all your current medicines and significant past medical history. Inform your doctor if you are undergoing any surgery.

Contraindications

Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any of these conditions; Ketoacidosis (diabetic complication) or severe gastro-intestinal disease (stomach disorder)
