Indications

It is indicated for patients with iron deficiency in cases where oral iron cannot be provided.

Side Effects

The adverse effects of this medicine include cardiac arrhythmias (disorders affecting the electrical activity of the heart), diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and hypotension. 

Warnings

Pregnancy

There is no evidence of risk when used in pregnant females. 

Lactation

The effects of this medicine are undetermined in lactating females; therefore, caution is advised. Consult your doctor before the use of this medicine.

Precautions

Patients with asthma (inflammation of airways causing difficulty in breathing), history of chronic infection or allergy are sensitive to the drug.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with anemia (a condition characterized with lack of healthy red blood cells to carry sufficient amount of oxygen) not caused by iron deficiency, iron overload or disturbances in iron utilization, hypersensitivity to iron mono or disaccharide complexes and in patients with serious kidney or liver damage.
