This medication is used in patients for treating and preventing angina (chest pain), CHF (congestive heart failure) and myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), hypotension (low blood pressure), heartburn, headache, dizziness, vomiting and flushing (skin turns red).
Pregnancy
This medication should be taken only if needed. Consult your physician before taking this medication.
Lactation
The effects of this medicine in lactating females are unknown. Therefore, please consult your doctor before use.
Precautions
Patients with a history of myocardial infarction (heart attack), severe renal and hepatic impairment (kidney and liver failure), glaucoma (pressure in the eyes), hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland) and hypothermia should be cautious.
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypotension conditions (low bp), pulmonary edema (excess fluid in lungs), anemia (), bradycardia (), stenosis (), glaucoma (pressure in the eye).
Indications:
It is used to prevent chest pain (angina), and treat heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and long-term congestive heart failure in combination with diuretics.
Administration:
This medicine is mostly taken orally (through mouth). The dosage is dependent on the severity of condition and response to treatment. Please consult your doctor before use. Not recommended for children.
Storage:
Please store the tablet form of this medicine at room temperature (18-25 Celsius). Keep medicine away from excessive light and moisture. Please keep it away from children and do not store in the bathroom. Please read the leaflet provided with the medicine for further storage guidance.
Precautions:
• May make you dizzy so it is advised not to do any tasks that require alertness (e.g. driving) immediately after taking this medicine • Hypothyroidism (decreased thyroid activity) • Malnutrition • Patients with heart disease • Patients with kidney disease • Patients with risk of glaucoma • Avoid abrupt withdrawal • Tolerance may develop with long term use
Effects on pregnancy and lactation:
The effects are undetermined; therefore, caution is advised.
Side Effects:
You may experience the following: • Dizziness • Headache • Increased heart rate • Rash • Increased pressure in the eye (closed-angle glaucoma) • Redness or irritation at injection site
Contraindications:
• Glaucoma • Severe heart problems • Anemia G6PD deficiency (enzyme)
