Magnett capsule contains cefixime in it which belongs to cephalosporin class of antibiotics. Cephalosporin class of antibiotics acts by weakening the outermost bacterial layer and cause breakdown of bacterial cell wall and stops growth of bacteria. Magnett is indicated for a vast variety of bacterial infections in children (above age 10) & adults. It is used in treatment of UTIs (urinary tract infections), throat infections including tonsilitis & pharyngitis, ear infections, skin & soft tissue infections & in biliary tract infections. It is also used for treating deteriorating symptoms of severe bronchitis cases.
Its side effects occur for a short period & are mild. Side effects like nausea, gas, headache, stomach upset/pain, diarrhea & dizziness can commonly occur. Consult doctor/pharmacist if condition worsens.

Avoid its use if you are driving or performing high alert activity as its use causes sleepiness. Avoid consuming alcohol with this as it makes person more sleepy. • Cefixime can cause neutropenia (low level of WBCs) & pancytopenia (deficiency of RBCs, platelets & WBCs) so its use should be cautiously done • Wrong results of lab tests like Glucose detection test, Coombs test & Ketone identification test have been reported with cefixime use. Inform doctor of this medication before taking the test.
