Meropenem is an intravenous antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Some of these include meningitis, intra-abdominal infection, and pneumonia. To avoid the development of medicine resistance, it should be used only in proven or strongly suspected bacterial infections.
Take meropenem by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 hours.
Take this product regularly to get the most benefit from it.
To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.
Follow the diet planrecommended by your doctor or dietician.
Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Do not increase your dose or take this product more often than directed.

This medicine is used in the treatment of pneumonia (infection of lungs), Urinary tract infections (infection in either the kidney, bladder, or urethra), intra-abdominal infections (infections occurring in the abdominal cavity e.g appendicitis or fecal peritonitis), gynaecological infections (infections in the vagina or genital tract), skin infections, soft tissue infections, meningitis (inflammation of the layer covering the brain), septicaemia (blood poisoning) and febrile neutropenia (fever in patients with low white blood cells).
Side effects of meropenem include:
Nausea or vomiting
Pregnant females should consult their doctors before using this medicine.
Lactating females should consult their doctors before using this medicine.
Its intake has shown risk during driving therefore it can’t be used during driving.
Patients with liver diseases should consult their doctor before using meropenem.
Patients with kidney disease shouldn’t use meropenem.
The use of alcohol should be limited or avoided while using meropenem.
Patients who are allergic to meropenem or any of its components should consult the doctor before taking it. If taking any vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products are taken then consult the doctor before using meropenem. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. If any sort of swelling is experienced, consult your doctor immediately. Taking meropenem supplements, especially in high doses, might result in kidney and liver impairment.
Meropenem is contraindicated for use in patients with meropenem hypersensitivity.
Meropenem should be used with extreme caution in patients with CNS disorders.
