This medicine is used for treating adrenal gland failure, Addison’s disease (adrenal gland insufficiency), Rheumatic disease (condition affecting joints tendons, ligaments, bones, and muscles), severe acute asthma, inflammatory bowel disease (chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal disease), and overwhelming infections (in combination with chemotherapy).

 

The patients administered may experience endocrine (gland associated) irregularities including menstrual problems, growth suppression in children, increased susceptibility to infection, electrolyte disturbances, muscular abnormalities, osteoporosis (weak bones) and bone fractures, impaired wound healing, sweating, hirsutism (abnormal excessive hair growth), acne, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological symptoms, weight changes, vision changes, and blood disorders.

The patients with systemic fungal infections, head injury, and stroke should avoid use of this medicine.

It may take a few weeks for this medicine to show its full effects. Please continue to use it according to the prescription and complete therapy course.

Please take this medicine preferably with meals. Please continue to take this medicine at the same time every day.

Skin conditions
This medicine is used in Typhoid fever, H. influenza meningitis (inflammation of membrane covering the brain) and severe infections when other antibiotics are ineffective.
Some patients might experience blood disorders including reversible and irreversible aplastic anaemia , Peripheral neuropathy (nerve disorder), or Optic neuritis (inflammation of optic nerve). Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have Porphyria (type of blood disorder), history of hypersensitivity to and/or toxicity from chloramphenicol.
Bacterial Infections
This medication is used for treating skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and allergies. It helps reduce swelling, itching, and redness. Please do not use this medicine on face and underarms unless directed by your healthcare provider.
This medicine is highly unlikely to cause scars. However frequent and harsh itching may leave scars. For further guidance, consult your healthcare provider.

This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if no safer alternate is available. Consult your health care provider for guidance. The effects of this medicine on lactating females are unknown. Consult your health care provider for guidance.
This medication is used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It can be used to treat cholera and diarrhea. Please note that this medicine will only work for bacterial infections and not viruses, causing conditions such as common cold, flu, etc.
Use it as prescribed by your health care provider. Please complete course of medication to prevent return of the infection. The dosage of this medicine is dependent on the age, condition, and its severity.

The patients with antibiotic-resistant infections, history of tuberculosis, septicaemia (blood infection), chickenpox, measles, psychiatric disorders, renal (kidney) and hepatic (liver) impairment, cirrhosis (abnormal liver condition), active peptic ulcer (intestinal inflammation), myasthenia gravis (muscular disorder), previous steroid-associated muscular abnormality, osteoporosis (weak bones), epilepsy (condition characterized by seizures), heart disorders and abnormalities, blood disorders, glaucoma (high pressure in eye), and elderly should be cautious. Please withdraw this medicine gradually.
Research suggests that this medicine should be avoided by pregnant women.
Research suggests that this medicine should be avoided by women who are breastfeeding.
Please avoid driving when taking this medicine as it may affect your ability to drive.
As a precaution please consult your doctor if you need to prolong treatment, repeat courses or if you have hepatic (liver) or renal (kidney) impairment.
