Description

Risp is an antipsychotic medicine that contains risperidone. It is used for treating schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and similar diseases affecting the brain. Directions for use

• For oral administration i.e. taken via the mouth
• For dose instructions, follow the prescribed course of therapy given by the doctor or pharmacist
• Take the medicine with a full glass of water
• Taken with food.
• In case a dose is missed, then take it as soon as you remember on the same day. However, if next day has arrived, then take only that day’s dose and do not double it.
• The medicine course should be completed as recommended by the doctor/pharmacist even if you see symptoms subsiding.
• It is prescription medication, so should be used on as-needed basis only.

Storage

Store the medicine at room temperature. Keep it away from the source of heat or direct sunlight.

• Do not stop using risp without consulting doctor/pharmacist, as it can produce withdrawal symptoms.
• Inform doctor of all medicines whether over the counter (like vitamins or herbal supplements etc.) or prescription medicines like metoclopramide, opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine) etc., that you may be taking as they can interact with risp tablet and produce serious side effects.
• Risp may make you sweat less, making you more likely to get heat stroke. Avoid doing things that may cause you to overheat, such as hard work or exercise in hot weather, or using hot tubs.
• Caution advised while using this medication in an elderly patient.
• Change position slowly from sitting or lying to standing.
• Not recommended for use in children.

When not to use

• Not recommended for use if you are allergic to risperidone or any other ingredient present in this tablet.
• Use of risp in pregnant females and breastfeeding mothers can be unsafe. Therefore, consult doctor or pharmacist before using this medication.
• Not recommended for use in children.
