It is primarily indicated for treating Diabetes Mellitus type 2 in people who are unable to respond to a monotherapy.

A dose of 50/1000mg once daily can be initiated then adjusted accordingly
The medication is not prescribed in patients with hepatic impairments. Also carefully monitor ALT (Alanine aminotransferase) and AST (Aspartate aminotransferase) values; and adjust accordingly if found to be x2.5 upper limit normal (ULN).
Adjust the dose if Creatinine clearence of the patient is greater then 1.5mg/dl in males and 1.4mg/dl in females.
Can be used but doctor consultation is important before use, as human and animal research is insufficient or animals showed defects and human research hasn?t been conducted.
The data for vildagliptin and metformin combination medicine for, if it enters breast milk, is not known. It should not be used.
Studies have reported a decreased Vitamin B12 levels in patients taking metformin or combination therapy. Patients with compromised renal and liver functions should be monitored closely. Hypoglycemic conditions have been reported with worsening of conditions when using a combination of antidiabetic therapy. Stress aur traumatized patients should be monitored closely. Patients taking vildagliptin and metformin should be asked to stop the use of alcohol.
This medicine is indicated in type 2 diabetes (a disorder characterized by high sugar levels in blood), in combination with pioglitazone or metformin or sulphonylureas.
Bullous (pus filled injury) and exfoliative (injury characterized with shedding of skin) lesions. When taken alone it can cause dizziness; when taken with metformin it can cause tremors (shaking movements), headache, nausea (an urge to vomit), hypoglycaemia (low sugar levels); when taken with sulphonylurea it can cause tremors (shaking movements), headache, nausea (an urge to vomit), asthenia (physical weakness), hypoglycaemia (low sugar levels); when taken with a glitazone it can cause weight gain and peripheral edema (swelling of hands and feet) and with insulin it can cause headache, hypoglycaemia (low sugar levels), GI upset, chills etc.
This medicine is contraindicated in diabetic ketoacidosis (a life threatening condition in which liver breaks down fats into ketones for energy), hepatic (liver) impairment and congestive heart failure (a condition that progresses over a long time and affects the pumping of heart).
This medicine is indicated in maturity onset diabetes either alone or with sulphonylureas. It is also used as adjuvant therapy in insulin dependent diabetes, particularly in obese patients.
GI upset, taste disturbance, abnormal liver function tests, hepatitis (inflammatory condition of liver), skin reactions, reduced B12 absorption are some of its side effects. Rarely it may cause lactic acidosis (buildup of lactate causing acidic pH of blood stream).
This medicine is contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (life threatening condition in which liver breaks down fats into ketones for energy) or precoma (a state of near unconsciousness), renal (kidney) or hepatic (liver) impairment, acute conditions predisposing to renal impairment, cardiac or respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction (heart attack), alcoholism and in patients with administration of iodinated contrast materials.
