Xcept tablet contains rivaroxaban 10 mg in it which is an anti-coagulant medication. For oral administration. It acts as an anticoagulant by blocking substance called factor Xa (10a) which eventually decreases thrombin enzyme that is involved in clot formation. Hence, rivaroxaban can prevent blood clots & decrease chances of heart attack and stroke (blood supply to brain is interrupted). Rivaroxaban acts as blood thinner and is indicated in prevention & treatment of blood clotting conditions like pulmonary embolism (blockage in pulmonary artery in lungs), deep vein thrombosis (DVT; blood clot in vein located deep inside the body) and atrial fibrillation (irregular & often rapid heart rate). It may also be used after hip & knee replacement surgery to prevent clot formation. It is also given to patients with high-risk of forming clots who have limited mobility during hospital stay and after discharge.
For how long is rivaroxaban use recommended?
If it is given after knee or hip joint surgery, then should be tentatively taken for 2 to 5 weeks. While if recommended for blood clots like in DVT or pulmonary embolism, then taken for at least 3 months.

Side effects can be back pain, bloody stools, bowel or bladder dysfunction, coughing blood, or leg weakness etc
How soon will rivaroxaban work?
It starts acting in a few hours after you take the first dose. But if you stop taking it, its effect will wear off in 24 hours for most people
