Diloxanide Furoate is an anti-protozoal medicine that belongs to the class of Luminal amoebicides; medicines that act inside the lumen of the bowel and kill the infection causing amoeba. It is used in the treatment of various forms of amebiasis. Amebiasis is an infection of the intestines caused by Amoeba, which causes abdominal cramps, pain, and loose stools. Diloxanide is used as the primary agent for the treatment of acute and chronic amoebiasis, and also along with a tissue amebicide.
