Lowplat tablet contains clopidogrel 75mg in it which is antiplatelet/anticoagulant medication. It works by inhibiting platelet aggregation (clumping of platelets which forms a clot). It helps in keeping blood flow smoothly in the body. It is indicated for prevention of heart attack & strokes (when blood supply to the brain is interrupted) in cases like people suffering from heart disease (recent heart attack), peripheral vascular disease (blood circulation disease), and in recent strokes.
Lowplat is also used in combination with aspirin (NSAID; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) for treating new or worsening chest pain (new heart attack or unstable angina) and for keeping blood vessels open & preventing blood clots after procedures like cardiac stent.
