Acitretin is particularly useful for pustular psoriasis, erythrodermic psoriasis, and psoriasis affecting hands and feet. It is safe for long-term application in psoriatic skin conditions. It enhances cell differentiation in the skin of patients with psoriasis.
Acitretin works in psoriasis by slowing down the proliferationof the skin cells.
Take this product by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily.
Take this product regularly to get the most benefit from it.
To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this product more often than directed.

This medicine is indicated in severe refractory psoriasis (skin disease characterized by marked redness and itchy patches), palmoplantar pustulosis (skin condition involving the palms and soles), and Darier's disease (skin disorder).
Patients using this medication may at times experience dry skin, dermatitis (infection of skin), sticky skin, and erythema (redness). If you experience any of these symptoms for a long period of time, consult your doctor immediately.
This medication is not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your healthcare provider for more information.
This medicine should not be used by breastfeeding mothers.

Patients with liver disease should consult their doctor before using acitretin.

Acitretin is contraindicated for use in patients with acitretin hypersensitivity.
