Filgrastim is a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) derivative derived from humans. It promotes the formation of white blood cells and tends to reduce the risk of infection in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.
It is injected beneath the skin or into a vein, depending on the filgrastim formulation.
Use as instructed by your doctor, often once day.

Filgrastim enters breast milk and can have adverse effects on a nursing baby. Lactating females should consult their doctor before using Filgrastim.
Filgrastim may have a minimal impact on driving abilities since after the administration of Filgrastim, dizziness can occur.

In rare situations, Filgrastim has been demonstrated to induce Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Before taking any medicine, evaluate the benefits and risks with your doctor. Priority should be given to reporting any fever or respiratory distress signs to a doctor. Depending on the clinical state, replacement with an appropriate alternative may be required.
Because of the higher risk of severe and life-threatening responses, Filgrastim is not advised for usage in patients with sickle cell disease history. This medicine should not be used in patients who have a known hypersensitivity to Filgrastim or filgrastim products.
How does Filgrastim work?
This medicine works by increasing the generation of white blood cells, which aids in the defense against infections.
Where do you put the Filgrastim?
If Filgrastim is injected subcutaneously (under the skin), it may be administered into the outer region of the upper arm, thigh, belly or upper outer buttocks. It must be administered into the fatty tissue rather than your muscle.
What is the purpose of administering Filgrastim 24 hours following chemotherapy?
