This medicine is used in combination with diet for treating primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol levels) with or without statin medication, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in combination with statin or, if necessary, other medicines, and in combination with diet for treating homozygous familial sitosterolemia (inherited disorder of sterol metabolism).

The patients administered with this medicine may experience headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal disturbances, and abnormal liver function tests.

The patients with moderate to severe hepatic (liver) impairment and concomitant use of statin in liver disease should avoid the use of this medicine.

  1. How long does Ezetimibe take to work?

This medicine mostly takes about 2 weeks to show its full effect.


  1. Can Ezetimibe be taken at night?

There is no ideal time to take this medicine. It can be taken at any time of the day. However, please ensure that you take it at the same time every day.


  1. What food interacts with Ezetimibe?

This medicine may interact with grapefruit and its juice. Please avoid consuming grapefruit during use of this medicine.

This medicine is a non-statin cholesterol lowering medicine. It reduces the absorption of cholesterol from the intestinal tract.

This medicine does not induce or inhibit the liver enzymes. However, it may affect its function indirectly.

Reduce the risk of mortality and non fatal myocardial infarction(heart attack).

Some patients may experience headache, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, constipation, muscle cramps, alopecia(hair loss), peripheral neuropathy(nerve disorder), anemia, hepatitis, myalgia(pain in a muscle), jaundice or rashes.

Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have active liver disease. Women must be protected by non-hormonal contraceptive methods. 

This medicine should not be taken with food.
